Zhanibek
Meaning: dear lord
Origin: Kypchak/Persian
Zhanibek joins zhan, from the Persian jān, 'soul' or 'dear one' (shared with Aizhan), with bek, the Turkic title for a lord or chieftain (shared with Bekzat). As Zhanibek Khan, it belongs to the other co-founder of the Kazakh Khanate in 1465, alongside Kerey Khan — one of the two names at the very root of Kazakh statehood.
