Yusuf is the Arabic and Quranic form of the Hebrew Yosef, from the root y-s-p, 'to add' or 'to increase.' Yusuf is a major prophet in Islam, with the Quran's twelfth surah devoted entirely to his story — the same account, of betrayal by his brothers and rise in Egypt, told in Genesis of Joseph.
