Jamilya

Meaning: beautiful

Origin: Arabic

Jamilya comes from the Arabic jamīla, 'beautiful' (root j-m-l). Beyond its everyday use as a given name, it's internationally known as the title of Chinghiz Aitmatov's 1958 novella Jamilya, one of the best-known works of Kyrgyz literature.
