Male

Ahmad

Meaning: most praiseworthy

Origin: Arabic

Ahmad shares its root with Muhammad, ḥ-m-d, 'to praise,' but takes the elative form of the word — 'more praiseworthy' or 'most praiseworthy' — rather than Muhammad's passive-participle sense of 'the one who is praised.' In Islamic tradition it is given as another name of the prophet Muhammad himself, alongside being common as a standalone given name.
